Richard Cornelius
Richard founded Cornelius Strategies in 2019 because he wanted to make strategy-focused planning available to local individuals, businesses, corporations, and non-profit organizations.
Richard earned his reputation as a top Strategic Planner and avid Balanced Scorecard champion during three decades of service with the State of California. His career with the State of California spanned record flooding in the 1990s, the real estate boom and bust in the early 2000s, and the amazing growth spurt of 2010. Richard served under Democrat and Republican governors alike, helping critical state departments identify key initiatives and execute on their corresponding objectives.
Richard studied directly under Dr. Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton (Balanced Scorecard, A Performance Management System, creators). He is an expert in Balanced Scorecard, as well as Total Quality Management, Organizational Management, Effective Meeting facilitation, and team leadership. He honed his skill in the effective use of these management tools.

Community and Family Man
Richard establishes balance in his life through volunteerism, community involvement, and the prioritization of family. When his children were small, Richard got to know the community and many of his neighbors coaching softball, and little league baseball, soccer, basketball, and more. Coaching wasn’t just a matter of teaching the sport and skills to young people for Richard, he saw it as an opportunity to help young people digest and process life lessons. He is also an avid golfer, golf marshal, and pro-active health and wellness champion.
Currently, Richard serves as President of the 100 Black Men of Sacramento and the Strategy Officer in the Office of Strategy Management for the 100 Black Men of America.
